Edinburgh Visitor Levy – What You Need to Know

From 24 July 2026, the City of Edinburgh Council will introduce the Edinburgh Visitor Levy, which applies to paid overnight stays across the city.

The levy is set at 5% of the accommodation cost and applies to the first five consecutive nights of your stay. It is charged in addition to your accommodation and will apply to bookings made from 1 October 2025 for stays from 24 July 2026 onwards.

The Visitor Levy is administered by the City of Edinburgh Council, with funds invested back into supporting tourism, local services and the city's infrastructure.
